2014 Winter Membership Minutes

Feb. 22, 2014

Commander Rick Miller called meeting to order.

Invocation was given by Rick Pruett (Salmon).

Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Sheriff thanked ISSAR for volunteering

Roll call of Counties showed 9 units being represented.

 

Past State Commanders present: Rick Pruett, Jim Gay, and Dale Crowther

 

Moment of silence was held for deceased and/or seriously ill members: Bear Lake SAR Treasurer, Berniece passed away

 

Hosting unit remarks –Rick thanked everyone for coming. They had a great turnout for the avalanche training with finding beacons and multiple burials, as well as the chili cook-off. There will be a debriefing of the Craters of the Moon search as well as a pistol shoot later.

 

OFFICERS REPORTS:

Commander Rick Miller- Rick will discuss in committee reports

1st Vice, Mitch Henson- looking for Fall Trailride host

2nd Vice, Dave Kramer- excused

Secretary, Dawn Lenz- will be working on membership cards as she receives membership info from Steve.

Communications, Burt Bates- continues compiling his information list of repeaters, frequencies and tones for each unit.

Quartermaster/Treasurer, Steve Clinkscales- excused

 

UNIT REPORTS:

Clearwater, Bill Nieder – 4 searches, interesting canyon search utilizing the rhino

Elmore, - 1 search, 2 recoveries, one with Owyhee Co., 2 days assisting on Craters of the Moon search

Fremont, Brian Lenz – Demolition Derby Fundraiser, lost hunters, 5 boat rescues, medical assist, 4 stranded motorists, 2 medical snowmobile rescues, 48th Annual Dog Derby radio assist, Island Park Ol’ Ladies Race, assisted 44 people out of trouble via cell support

Gooding, – Fairground cleanup

Idaho County,   - several morel mushroom pickers lost, 2 missing hunters, 2 medical assists, including rafters taking cheap rafts down Hell’s Canyon.

Salmon, Rick Pruett – multiple extrication call-outs, vehicles in river (semi), joint search with Custer County, lost rock picker

Lincoln – multiple extrication call outs (semi vs. semi), rollover, suicide

Mini Cassia,    - 7 extrications, 3 searches, assist on Craters of the Moon search in Butte Co.

Washington, 1 medical evacuation, 1 drowning victim, 3 hunters; joint search with Adams County. Will be working on new side sonar training.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Bylaws- looking for a rep

 

Web page, Dawn Lenz – will be updating resources from the new membership rosters when Steve passes the info over

 

Sheriff’s Association – we continue to invite Wes Collins to attend our ISSAR meetings. Jim stated that they have been discussing doing a Commander’s Training session, but this has not been put together yet.

 

Legislative Report- looking for a rep.       *Post meeting update: Don Hudson will begin working on this committee.

 

Scrapbook, Dave Kramer- submit your photos to Dave.

 

 Junior Membership, Mitch Lenz (Fremont) spoke about some of the interesting things they have been doing to help their unit as well as some great fundraisers they have completed for purchase of winter gear for their junior unit.

 

Search Reimbursements – Brian Lenz submitted the prior ISSAR meet attendance for search reimbursement, as a trial, but has not received any info back on it yet.

Training funds reimbursement has changed to $2,000 “per unit” and multiple units can be submitted in a joint training with receipts.

Equipment Purchase Fund is available 65/35, form on webpage, to replace outdated equipment

 

District Zone Reps

We are looking for a District 1 (North Idaho) Zone Rep, who can attend the meetings and keep current with ISSAR.

 

District 2 Rep (East Idaho) will now be Brian Lenz, thanks to Deloy Braswell for his previous service.

 

District 3 Rep (West Idaho) thank you Tony Funk for your continued service.

 

Submit training forms to your Zone Rep. Zone Reps encourage multi-county cross-training, and submit forms for training reimbursement. Forms get turned in to First Vice.

 

Unfinished Business:

Minutes were passed around for review. Motioned and carried.

 

 

New Business:

Commander’s Note – Rick plans to put together a monthly update.

 

Everett Bogart Award: If you have an outstanding member of your unit that goes the extra mile, submit your nomination forms. The form is available on the website.

 

Application for Membership: Blaine County (28 members) was approved for membership.

 

Future Meetings:

2014 ISSAR Summer Convention -Hosted by Idaho County.

2014 ISSAR Fall Trailride – Hosted by Lincoln County.
